The Royal Navy Officer’s Wool Jacket is a very interesting piece. A numbered, limited edition (900) item sold in Fall 1984 through Spring 1985, the jacket was made from Royal Navy surplus wool from around 1948. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the catalogue: “In grander days, British officers never obliged to suffer the ordinary — food, lodgings, brandy, cigars, or — heaven forbid — uniforms. Not only were their uniforms superbly cut, they were fashioned of the very finest 11 oz. worsted wool gabardine. the wind even on the high seas could scarcely blow through it. Along with the empire itself, the idea of officers outfitted like royalty eventually came to an end; now officers must make do with ordinary wool. When the changeover came, however, there was still some officer’s gabardine waiting to be made into uniforms. The British auctioned it off, we bought it and made it up into these classic American-style jackets, which we offer in a numbered, limited edition. “<\/p>\n\n\n\n
