Beautiful, hardy, substantial wool\u2013the kind that agrees with a brilliant fall morning but will also stand up to a winter storm. &#8220;Neps&#8221; are tiny light-colored nubs obtained by brushing the coats of sheep; we combine them with wool&#8217;s slender, hairlike fibers (&#8220;kempy&#8221;) in a stout four-count, two-ply yarn. Then we hand-knit from it a raglan-sleeve crewneck, in a moss-stitch pattern that produces a raised pebble texture.
