Employee Name Badge-UPDATE!

Confirmed: This is an employee name badge!

I was given this employee badge by Mike Madrid in BR’s design office. It’s a laminated badge with a clip on the back of it, he didn’t recall it’s origin.

I found this article in the employee newsletter (below) about a January 1986 Manager’s Conference meeting (In the Africa Wing of San Francisco’s Academy of Sciences! How cool is that?) appears to show participants wearing this badge! I thought perhaps the badge might be exclusive to the conference…but it turns out they were just all wearing their employee badges!

Grant Street Bookstore manager Tony Donato, who has contributed many gems to my collection and this website, confirmed that the badge was indeed the standard employee badge required for everyone on the store sales floor. Names were added using a DYMO label maker.

This picture shows the badge the best…
You can just make out the badge on this employee’s shirt.
