Italian Waiter’s Jacket

First appearing in the summer 1985 catalogue, this light, easy to wear jacket that seemed both timeless and very 80s. You could easily roll up your sleeves, slip on some deck shoes and be at home in the background of Miami Vice. They came in white always, khaki often, as well as once in navy and once in olive drab. Last sighted in spring ’88.

From the catalog: In the winter of ’84, while other clothiers flocked to Florence for the fashion shows, we slipped away to an industrial uniform trade show. We knew we’d discovered another of Italy’s hidden gems when we came upon the perfect summer blazer disguised as an Italian waiter’s jacket. We each tried one on. Bellissima! Exactly the right neat, narrow cut for men and women. So we had the original sateen-weave version duplicated in sturdy twill fabric in our favorite neutrals. Not, perhaps, what the matre d’ ordered….but molto simpatico.
