Snap Collar Bomber Jacket

The Fall 1988 catalogue, the last one, introduced this new bomber jacket.

New the Fall 1988 catalogue, the Snap-Collar Bomber Jacket is described as dark chocolate brown, so I am not at all sure that the pictures from eBay below are the same jacket, but I think so. However, there are no black jackets in the catalogue that match the photos. (It may simply be that the dark brown looks black in photos or ages darker). The jackets pictured show up frequently. I also don’t think the presence of the Stars and Bananas tag indicates time period in this case-they could be used in 1988 depending on the factory.

From the catalogue: “We drum-dyed hearty cowhides a dark chocolate brown, then buffed and polished them to coax the leather’s patina to the surface. In the style of the classic bomber, the jacket has ample pockets and a collar that snaps down to secure a scarf against the wind. Character guaranteed to improve with age.”
