Six-Gore Skirt

Spotted on eBay, this rare 1986 Cotton Twill and Leather Six-Gore Skirt. Six gore is a particular cut of skirt made up of triangular “gore” panels to form a A line. Sold in Pewter and Ivory in Fall 1986 and Dark Khaki and Pewter in Holiday 1986.

From the catalogue: “Cut long and wide enough to satisfy our rather bluenosed Minister of Decorum, the Six-Gore Skirt also passed muster with our mischievous Minister of Revels (she liked its trim-waisted, romantic silhouette). We had it made from several yards of pre-washed, heavy cotton twill, lightly brushed on the inside for a soft touch and swingy drape. The coin pocket is trimmed with machine-washable leather to discourage dirt and wear. A most proper skirt when propriety is called for, but should you find yourself sashaying, gallivanting, or even (heavens!) kicking up your heels in it, don’t say you weren’t adequately forewarned.”
