Snap-Brim Jungle Hat

This hat was featured Spring/Summer 1986 and also Spring 1988. It is similar to the Desert Hat, another bucket style hat which preceded it as well as the Roll-Up Hat.

From the catalogue: “We won’t elaborate on all the things that can fall on your head in the tropics, aside from excessive sun–suffice to say a hat is vital. Wide-brimmed hats, though, hit the backpack behind your head, snag in dense vegetation, and don’t pack well. Solution: the 100% cotton Snap-Brim Jungle Hat, with flexible brim that fastens up front and back as needed and air grommets all around for coolness. And it can be rolled up and stuffed into a pocket. Panamas are fine for town; when trailblazing lies ahead, this is the hat we take.”

The Jungle Hat is similar but distinctly different than the Desert Hat, which was more widely available. Note the hat band…
